USM Artwork and Design Program Ranked in High 50 within the Nation by GDUSA Journal

The College of Southern Mississippi (USM) is proud to announce that the Graphic Design Program has been chosen as one of many High 50 Design Colleges within the Nation by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA).
GDUSA is {a magazine} that’s thought of an authority within the graphic design business
and has been in print for almost 60 years. This honor is coveted by faculties and applications
of all sizes.
Dr. Chris Winstead, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, praises the graphic
design program for this excellent achievement.
“This recognition highlights one thing we already know right here at Southern Miss, particularly
that our graphic design college and college students are among the many greatest within the Nation. By
combining a robust basis in artwork with extra coursework specializing in the communication
{and professional} design components particular to graphic design, our college students emerge well-prepared
for careers in graphic design or for additional training in visible artwork and graphic design.”
John Lawler, affiliate professor and graphic design space coordinator, is happy with
the graphic design program right here at USM.
“As college, we try to foster a tradition that encourages exploration of each type
and performance all through all ranges of this system. Our college students actually embrace the
rigor of this system with a way of delight and a willpower to be one of the best,” mentioned
Lawler. “Finally, the scholars are who make this program profitable. I’m repeatedly
amazed by the extent of professionalism and expertise displayed each day from
our college students.”
Affiliate Professor of Design Jacob Cotton echoed Lawler’s sentiments about this unbelievable
achievement and mentioned the implications this honor has for potential college students.
“We’re extremely excited and proud to have maintained our standing as one of many high
50 design applications within the nation. This honor is a results of our college students’ excessive stage
of labor ethic and professionalism together with our extraordinarily energetic college. Highschool
college students generally look to the larger artwork faculties believing that these are the top
for an artwork and design training,” Cotton said. “So, you will need to spotlight
that not solely do we provide that very same prime quality, however we provide it right here in Mississippi
and at an inexpensive value.”
