Pictures main wins ‘Greatest in Present’ at VANM senior exhibition
Considered one of seven items in “The Examine of Form” collection by Derek Raymond
Derek Raymond, a senior Pictures main from Malone, gained the President’s Award for Greatest in Present at Arteliesque, the Fall 2022 Senior Exhibition of the Division of Visible Arts and New Media held on the Cathy and Jesse Marion Artwork Gallery.
The seven items in Mr. Raymond’s photographic collection, “The Examine of Form,” include macro product images. Merchandise proven are seen in a macro, or extraordinarily shut, viewpoint. “These pictures symbolize the thought of how representational varieties change into ethereal and summary when seen from completely different angles,” Raymond defined.
Pictures are in a toned black and white as shade can improve qualities, but in addition distract, Raymond indicated. Black and white permits the type of the form to be seen alone. “I wished a heat tone with these pictures as a result of true black and white appeared very chilly and harsh. I wished the nice and cozy tone to make the pictures inviting,” he stated.
“My work, impressed by Peter McKinnon and Edward Weston, explores how mild and form takes many varieties. The exhibition, which was on show Dec. 2-11, featured paintings by 9 Animation and Illustration seniors – Mad Armstrong, Grace Dixon, Ryan Ludu, Wyatt Malave, Penn Mant, Don Marotta, Kathryn Marotta, MaryBeth Meier and Isabella Learn – and one Pictures main, Raymond.
