The press conference for Maps to the Stars took place today. The Canadian director David Cronenberg answered questions from journalists from around the world, accompanied by the full cast and crew. Julianne Moore, Sarah Gadon and Mia Wasikowska were alongside the director. John Cusack, Evan Bird and Robert Pattinson were also present, along with screenplay writer Bruce Wagner and the producers Martin Katz, Saïd Ben Saïd and Michel Merkt. Highlights.

Julianne Moore on the script: “David Cronenberg is an incredibly enthusiastic person. As an actress you want to make him happy. About the script I would say there is a funny side to everything: the script was funny and serious the same time.”

John Cusack stressed: “This screenplay was very dense. It was a real exercise in precision for me. Los Angeles is an ecosystem that I know – a place in which greed and fear live side by side.”

Robert Pattinson on the director David Cronenberg : “I was so happy and enthusiastic to be working with him once again.”

David Cronenberg spoke about the explicit scenes in his film: “Once again, people are making love in a car. But the sex in a car is indicative of a sexual revolution. A whole generation of Americans were conceived in the back of a car. It was a way for young people to live life to the full, and to escape the constraints of home.”

David Cronenberg  on the vision of Hollywood expressed
in the film: “It’s not an attack on Hollywood. You have to look deeper than that. The action could have taken place in Wall Street or anywhere, like Washington for example, it’s also about those people who are fighting to succeed and make money”
