ANTENA DA RAÇA

The film Antena da Raça (Race Antenna) captures and revisits Brazilian reality, based on dialogues, excerpts and scenes from Glauber’s visceral films and his desire to “remove the masks” from our Third World history. He seeks to update and introduce new, real characters, who are actors in our contemporary tragedy. The lucid madness of these “Glauberian” fables can be found on the streets or in politics, and the people are now the antithesis of the characters in their films. In this context, where the archaic and the modern, as well as love and violence, coexist in a state of inequality and often abandonment, the language of the film engages with the style of the programme Abertura, which was broadcast in 1979 on Brazilian TV, during the democratisation process.
