The year is 1917 and World War I is raging on the continent and in Great Britain most able-bodied men are on the front lines in France. Those left behind are involved in the war effort. English map-makers Reginald Anson and George Garrad arrive in the Welsh village of Ffynnon Garw to measure “The Garth” – the local mountain and geographical landmark prized by the village.
