Haifaa al-Mansour is the first female Saudi filmmaker. She studied comparative literature at the American University in Cairo and earned a Master’s degree in Film Studies from the University of Sydney. Her 2005 documentary “Women Without Shadows” inspired a new wave of Saudi filmmakers. Al-Mansour’s 2012 feature debut, “Wadjda", was the first feature shot entirely in Saudi Arabia.
