Suhua, a young woman graduated of the Shanghai Nursing School, volunteers to go to the “border areas” in the Chinese Northeastern region. As a consequence, she has to leave her boyfriend in Shanghai and abandon the comfortable life in a city. As she devoting herself to the construction work in the wild frontier of her motherland, she realises and embraces her new life in the tide of the times.
It tells a simple story, but it reflects a social outlook and humanities style of China in the 1950s, which is very different from nowadays and has certain value of research of social formation.
