Montreal native, Xavier Dolan has been acting since the age of four. At the age of 20, he wrote and directed his first feature film, "J'ai tué ma mère" (I Killed My Mother), which he also played the leading role in. Presented in 2009 at the Directors' Fortnight, the film brought him international critical acclaim and won several awards. It was followed by "Les Amours Imaginaires" (Heartbeats) and "Laurence Anyways", both of which received an enthusiastic reception when selected for Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes in 2010 and 2012 respectively. In 2013, his fourth film "Tom à la ferme" (Tom at the Farm) was screened at the Venice Film Festival, where it received the FIPRESCI Prize. With "Mommy", he won several awards, including the Jury Prize at the 2014 Festival de Cannes and the César for Best Foreign Film. Faithful to the Festival, Xavier Dolan sits on the Feature Film Jury in 2015 before returning to Competition with "Juste la fin du monde" (It's Only the End of the World", winner of the Grand Prix in 2016, and "Matthias and Maxime" in 2019.
